Productivity Hacks To Get Things Done in 2022

Welcome to this blog on productivity hacks to get things done in 2022!

Whether it’s every hour, every day, or every week, we all have times where we just can’t seem to get things done. Sometimes, there are just too many distractions around us and sometimes, it’s our mind that prevents us from starting to hustle.

This happens to me very often, and whenever it does, I always feel super bad at the end of the day that I didn’t get the things I wanted to get done. I tell myself that I’ll make up for it tomorrow, but the same cycle happens again.

If this is something you can relate to, you’re not alone. And, you’ve come to the right place.

As teenagers, it can be a struggle to be productive when we just want to relax and watch TV or play a video game. As I’m writing this, I literally wish I could be watching Modern Family right now. But, here’s the thing: The time we spend watching TV, playing video games, or being on our phones is not going to help us grow and succeed in life. However, the time we spend grinding and hustling, even when we don’t want to, is the key to growth and success.

This is why I’m writing this blog at this very moment.

We all have a long list of to-dos’ on our table or computer. But, we all want to just throw that away and spend our time doing something else. Well, that stops now. With these 10 productivity hacks, you can get started on your work so that by tonight, you’ll feel relaxed and successful. And tomorrow, you can take a short break if you need.

The 10 hacks to be productive and get started on your work are as follows:

1. Use the Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique

The first hack is using the Pomodoro technique. If you haven’t heard of it before, the Pomodoro technique is a time management method that encourages you to work with time rather than against it.

In this method, you break your workday into 25-minute chunks. After each of the 25-minute chunks, you take a short 5-minute break. After you do this 4 times, you take a longer break, for about 15-30 minutes.

For a visual of how this works, check out the image above!

This method is great to get work done while not getting burned out or overwhelmed. Try it out next time you have a busy schedule!

2. Write down your 3 most important tasks

Write down your 3 most important tasks

The second hack is to write down your 3 most important tasks for the day.

Oftentimes, we have too many tasks on our to-do list that we have no idea where to start and end up sitting there doing nothing. At the end of the day, nothing will be crossed out and we have to sleep knowing that tomorrow is going to be an even busier day.

However, that can stop if we have the top 3 things to do already written down.

The key concept to remember here is to focus on tasks that are important rather than urgent.

Another thing to keep in mind is when writing down tasks to do, be specific about what you have to do and don’t just write three vague words.

3. Implement the 2-minute rule for quick tasks

Implement the 2-minute rule for quick tasks

I do this every day and I promise you, this saves so much time and makes you feel successful at the end of the day!

Basically, if something takes you two or less minutes to complete, just do it. If it takes more than 2 minutes, then save it for later.

There will be small tasks that inevitably pop-up throughout your day, and when they do, just complete them really quickly! It’s as simple as that. It gives you small wins and the momentum to keep getting things done!

4. Batch similar tasks

Batch similar tasks

Batching similar tasks is a great way to conserve energy and also get more done.

Batching similar tasks means grouping similar tasks together.

For example, you could batch your “social tasks” together: Responding to emails, text messages, and voice-mails.

Basically, you find common themes from your to-do list and do them together. This will definitely help your work process flow more smoothly!

5. Plan your day ahead of time

Plan your day ahead of time

Another great productivity hack is planning your day ahead of time. I like to plan the following day the night before so I have a good idea of what I need to do and can feel relaxed before going to bed.

If you don’t have a schedule, you’re likely to finish your day realizing that you haven’t made good progress on what you should have been focusing on.

When you are planning out your day, be sure to keep in mind how long the task will take and what time of day you want to complete it. Doing this will ensure that your day can be as productive as possible and you won’t need to take time out to think about what to do next.

6. Wake up early

Wake up early

Waking up early is not only a hack to help you be more productive, but also a great lifestyle habit to adopt for the rest of your life.

I’ve noticed that whenever I wake up after 8:30, I don’t feel like working the whole day and I waste my time watching TV or doing something else. That’s because when I wake up late, my whole day starts late and I get discouraged to start working.

However, by waking up early, you have a huge head start on the day. There are fewer distractions in the morning and you have more time to work and be productive!

7. Create an inspirational board/reminder

Create an inspirational board/reminder

Another great hack to be productive is to have some sort of inspirational board or reminder on your wall.

Personally, I have a vision board on my wall right above my desk. Whenever I get too lazy to work, I look up at my wall and remind myself what I’m working towards and why I started.

I highly recommend creating a vision board for yourself – it’s not only great to be productive, but also to manifest the life you want!

But, it doesn’t have to be a vision board. It can simply be a post-it note that says “Do it now!” as the above image. Just look at it for a couple of seconds and hopefully, you’ll have the power to start hustling!

8. Assign a “task deputy”

It could be your colleague, your supervisor, or your significant other, anyone who has the unforgiving guts to reprimand you when you procrastinate. You could go the extra mile by paying up unfinished tasks or times you open your Facebook or watch a funny cat video on YouTube. Let’s see how five bucks every time you procrastinate will change you. By having some sort of accountability partner, they can remind you to stay on task when you are getting distracted so you can get the most done and be productive!

9. Make a wins list

As you go about your day, keep a list of wins that you acquire. That could be finishing your report, doing well in a meeting, or making some progress on a goal.

Each win you add to your list will make you more motivated to get things done. As your Wins list grows longer, so will your enthusiasm to add things to it.

I really like this idea because most of us just keep a list of what we have to do instead of what’s already done. We should keep both because with a wins list, we get the motivation to keep adding on to that list and keep crossing things off the to-do list.

10. Keep a notepad for distracting thoughts

Last but not least, keep a notepad nearby for distracting thoughts. It doesn’t just have to be on paper, it could be the notes app on your phone or another website on your computer. The purpose of this is to jot down any thoughts that come to your head while you’re working.

Oftentimes, random thoughts come into our head and we stop focusing on the tasks at head because we get distracted by the thought in our brain. But, we can prevent this from happening by writing it down to come back to after you have finished what you were working on.

The Takeaway:

Sometimes, it just takes small actions to help us make big changes. These hacks are not long action tasks that you have to do prior to getting work done, but they are just simple things you can set up/do to continue hustling and becoming the best version of yourself.

We all are capable of being productive and getting all our work done, but not all have the dedication and willingness to do so. With these hacks, you can get a jumpstart to the lifelong dedication and willingness to hustle and achieve all your goals in life.
